　「屋久杉の典型的な杢（柄：がら）ってどんなのですか？」
ユーザーの方から時々こんな質問を受けます。言葉では言い表せないので、実物でご説明するようにしています。

屋久杉の杢

　私たちが通常扱っていていかにも「屋久杉！」といえるのはこれ！！

　決してスッキリ綺麗というものではなく、節のような「入り皮」があり、色のムラや、シミのようなもの、細かい割れ等、様々な特徴をもつものを、「典型的な屋久杉の杢」として紹介をしています。
どうしてそうなのか？

　その理由は・・・・「杢には経験・歴史があらわれる」からです。
樹齢１００年の杉に対して、樹齢５００年でも５倍、１０００年では１０倍。
人間でいえば１０歳の子供の経験に比較し、５０歳～１００歳の大人の経験・歴史が刻まれていると思えば「複雑な杢」の意味・価値が分かっていただけます。
